2014 C.O.G.S. Warmachine Fantasy Draft

2014 COGS Warmachine Fantasy Draft

Draft to be held July 23rd, 2014 at Art of War Gaming.  Draft will start at approximately 8:00 PM.  Draft will probably last 4+ hours.

League will last until the end of September.

Facebook will be the primary communications medium for the league.  I will set up a new Facebook group for it, rather than using the Cincinnati Warmachine group.

Please come prepared.  The link to the Google Spreadsheet of all Warmachine/Hordes items is at:

Warmachine Draft Spreadsheet

You will be borrowing my models.  You are responsible for them.  If you lose them, get them stolen, or damage them in any other way, you will agree to replace them.

Draft Format

Draft order will be randomized.
Draft will be a "snake" draft (i.e. Player 1 to Player 8, and then 8 to 1, if there are 8 players)
Draft will be 16 rounds.
You have one minute on the clock when it is your turn to pick.
We will take a short break after round 8 to allow people to analyze the current draft.

At the end of the draft, your roster must contain:

  • 3 warcasters/warlocks
  • 4-6 warjacks/warbeasts (this includes colossals and gargantuans)
  • 4-6 units
  • 4-6 solos
  • 0-2 battle engines
After the draft, your maximum roster size will go up to 18.  You will be allowed to pick up 2 additional items at any time.  After the 16 round draft is completed, we will go around the table again to see if anyone has any pick ups at that time.  If not, they will be first come, first serve.

Each item in the draft is unique.  This means that each entity can only be drafted once.  This means that each entity can only appear in a list once.  For example, if you draft the Pistol Wraith, you can only put 1 in a list.

You may draft something even if you can't technically field it.  An example would be drafting a warbeast when you have taken 3 warcasters.

Games and League Scoring

You can play each other member of the league 1 time.
Winner will receive 3 points.
Loser will receive 2 points.
If you and another player do not play each other before the end of the league, you will both get 0 points.

You must play each of your three casters one time during the league.  The only exception to this is if you drop a caster before the end of the league.  If that occurs, you have to play the replacement caster instead.

Games are 50 points.

Theme forces are not allowed.

Add/Drops/Trades

Throughout the league you will be able to Add/Drop 3 times.  This process cannot take you above or below the min/max of each category as specified above.  You may drop a unit and pick up a solo, for example, but you must still end up with 4 to 6 of each.  If you drop a caster, you must pick up a caster to replace him.

You cannot add something you have dropped earlier in the season.

Players may trade with one another.  At the end of any trade, you must still have a legal roster.

Game Mechanics

FOCUS and FURY mechanisms do not change.  Warcaster and Warlock rules do not change.  Rules for battle group creation do not change.  This means a Warcaster cannot be assigned a Warbeast, and a Warlock cannot be assigned a Warjack.

Every model you draft is considered Friendly Faction.

If a caster has something that specifies a faction (Khador Unit, for example), that will be changed to whatever your faction is.

Rhulic casters will not be limited to Rhulic Jacks.  Rhulic Jacks will not be limited to Rhulic casters.

Junior Warcasters and Junior Warlocks will only be able to take entities from your roster that they are normally allowed if they have restrictions.  The Beast Mistress can still only take lesser warbeasts, for example.  Gastone could run any Warjack that you draft because he has no restrictions.
